In the centre of town visit the Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame in the 2nd Gaol, Alice Springs Reptile Centre, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, art galleries, the Old Stuart Gaol, the old law courts, Hartley Street School, the Administrator’s House, Adelaide House Museum, Todd Mall markets (every second Sunday April to November) and the Olive Pink Botanical Gardens across the Todd River.
Just out of the centre of town visit: Old Telegraph Station, the Alice Springs School of the Air and the Tropic of Capricorn (north) Cultural Precinct (Araluen Arts Centre, the Museum of Central Australia and the Aviation Centre), and Alice Springs Desert Park (west) Old Ghan and National Transport Hall of Fame (south)
Visit sites along the East MacDonnell Ranges along the Ross River Highway: Emily Gap, Jessie gap, Corroboree Rock, Ross River Homestead (conventional vehicle on sealed road), Trephina Gorge (conventional vehicle on unsealed road), and the ruins of the historic goldmining town of Arltunga (may need 4WD).
Visit sites along the West MacDonnell Ranges along Larapinta Drive: John Flynn’s grave, Simpson’s Gap, Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole, the Ochre Pits, Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen (conventional vehicle on sealed roads).
Travel west along the Larapinta Drive to historic Hermannsburg (conventional vehicle on sealed roads) and Palm Valley (strictly 4WD)
